It’s never easy forking over a security deposit, but don’t worry! There are ways you can actually get your deposit back in full.

1. Write it down: before you move in, document any flaws or damages that are visible. Another helpful tip is to take pictures in case an issue arises, you have proof.

2. Major Changes: avoid any major changes such as painting, this can really cost you. Some apartment complexes will allow you to paint, but you must change it back to it’s original color.

3. Clean it Good: prior to moving you, clean your apartment good. If you have any pets clean after them and make sure it’s odor free.
