Tips to Make Your Bathroom Appear Larger

You have found the perfect apartment in Canoga Park; you love everything about it, the community pool and barbeque, the neighborhood, the activities in your area and even your commute to work.  Everything is near perfect, but you would like your  bathroom to look a bit more spacious.

Here are some tips that will make your bathroom more functional and seem larger than it actually is.

Tip #1 – Keep everything the same tone and color.  Select neutral colors throughout the room including towels, rugs and other accessories so that it blends together.   Dark colors will make a bathroom look smaller.  Choose pastels, neutrals, light blues or greens to expand the room and provide a calming effect.

Tip #2 – Use mirrors in your bathroom.  Many people don’t even consider using mirrors in a bathroom since there is one over your vanity, but just like other rooms adding a mirror (or two) can open up the space.

Tip #3 – Brighten the Room with Lighting.  Your bathroom more than likely has overhead lighting in the ceiling or above the vanity, but consider adding another small light to the room, this will draw the eye across the room expanding it visually.

Tip #4 – Declutter your bathroom.  Clutter will make your room look smaller and take up space both visually and physically.  Organize your bathroom using baskets or clear Lucite storage units.  Keep your bathroom supplies out of site. One great tip is to gather all of the items you need as part of your morning routine and place them in a basket and take it out when you start your morning routine and put it away when you are finished.  If your apartment allows it use hooks (removable hooks from 3m are a great option as well) to hang towels, shower sponges and more.

Tip #4 – Accessorize your bathroom, but don’t overdo it.  Look for compact accessories and use glass or clear Lucite to give the appearance of a larger room.   Try a clear shower curtain and keep wall decorations to a minimum.

Tip#5 – Use the back of the door to store supplies or bathroom necessities.  Add a removable hook and use a shoe holder or bathroom caddy to store bathroom essentials.

These 5 tips will help you declutter your bathroom and make it seem larger.
