Go searching for bugs with a free app called Project Noah (projectnoah.org) which helps you identify bugs. Simply snap a photo and the app sends an ID.

Summer is the perfect time to gather the family together for a night of star watching. Head to Griffith Park (website) or the beach at night to gaze at the stars. There is a great app which helps you identify the constellations. Simply point at a star (or planet) and the app will identify which constellation you are looking at. You might be surprised to discover that some of those stars are actually the planets; Jupiter and Saturn.
