You have cleaned the tub, the sink, the toilet and the floors, but you still have grime on your fixtures. Here are some tips to cleaning your faucets.
- Determine the finish of your faucet. Be sure that you know what your faucets are finished with, often a hard abrasive will damage the finish.
- Dish soap and warm water are usually enough to clean most faucets. Buff the surface with a dry microfiber cloth.
- If grime has built up try using white vinegar to clean the fixtures. Use a half a cup of white vinegar and a half a cup of hot water. Tip a cleaning cloth and into the solution and apply it to the fixtures. Don’t forget to turn the faucet in different positions to get the solution on the entire faucet. Let sit for 10 minutes and rub and rinse off.
- If grime still persists try a baking soda solution and a SOFT tooth brush. Baking soda is a great way to clean most surfaces. Use a small amount of baking soda and a drop of warm water to create a paste. Using an old toothbrush gently scrub the faucet area, let stand and then rinse.
- Flossing is good for faucets too. Your dentist recommends flossing often, but did you know that floss can also be used to remove grime (and germs) from your bathroom faucets. Cut off a small portion of floss and using two hands, place the floss under the handle of your faucet. This will clean hard to get places that could be harboring germs.
- Buff your faucets. Once you have them clean, use a dry microfiber cloth to buff and add shine to your faucets.
